Graduation Day Arrives for 159 Members of CHS Class of 2021

May 23 was a special day for 159 members of the Clio High School Class of 2021.

Yes, it was graduation day.  But it was even more than that.

After more than a year that saw these seniors overcome all the pandemic and accompanying restrictions could throw at them, it was a true celebration and a bit of a return to normalcy.

Even Mother Nature’s threat of rain didn’t dampen their spirits.  The time of the commencement was moved ahead an hour resulting in the last graduate receiving his or her diploma, the last photos being snapped, and the last hugs and kisses from proud family members and friends all completed before the first raindrop fell.

The Class of 2021 at Clio High School was headed by a Top Ten group of outstanding students with no less than six of them maintaining perfect 4.00 grade point averages and being named valedictorians as pictured below.

There were speeches including the Class Address from class president Sarah Falardeau, student-chosen speaker and Carter Middle School teacher Mike Domerese, and Class Address from valedictorian Braeden Burger.

Then it was time.  After 13 years of school, the names of each member of the Class of 2021 was called and each walked across the stage to be greeted and congratulated by district staff and board of education members as each was handed their diploma.

In a final step of moving their tassels from right to left, the seniors were suddenly Clio High School alums.
